Essay Instructions: This paper will address the following question:

What has the greatest negative impact on children’s learning; socio-economic status or race?

Identify three of the listed qualitative data collection approaches (listed below) that you will choose to use in the paper to explore the above question.

For EACH approach (you can pick the three you wish to write about) write a three page paper in which, based on the question, “What has the greatest negative impact on children’s learning; socio-economic status or race?” describe the sampling and data collection procedures, and then state how you would analyze and present these findings. Each of these three papers should present the work within the qualitative framework you have chosen (you will have three frameworks thus three papers all looking at the same research question). Some overlap may occur but there will also be differences. The outcome of these papers is to demonstrate a basic understanding of how you would develop the same research topic but from three different qualitative approaches.

The following is expected:

3 approaches explored, 3 pages each for a total of 9 pages.

- Paper written in APA format.

- Paper written with minimal writing errors.

- Research questions written properly

- Sampling described appropriately

- Data collection procedures outlined properly

- Analysis lines up with question and method

- Approach to presentation of findings is described well
